I think the problem is the technology has plateaued and moving forward requires larger changes than they're used to. I agree that catering to people with larger collections is the best route and now that MusicIP is effectively orphaned, there is definitely some concern about this. Also so much of what makes Squeezecenter great is dependent on plugins, that if some of the plugins are slow to arrive I couldn't see upgrading until they are there. Logitech clearly feels the product needs to be "sexed up" with a color screen and other extras. I think building some unit that can act as a server is a good move. That said if they're going to focus on building fatter clients they really need to make them more autonomous/asynchronous. The fact that the boom, a $300 alarm clock, can only muster a 1 minute alarm if it loses connectivity is just pathetic. And if the remote is representative of the limitations and lack of developer support of SqueezeOS they really have their work cut out for them. I'm happy enough with the current state of the technology that I can watch this with some detachment.
