I tried a fairly radical version of what JJ suggested. I used Synaptic to remove all traces of squeezebox* squee* mysql*
Complete removal, with deletion of config files, etc. Then I had synaptic install squeezeboxserver This installed Version: 7.4 - r28244 @ Sun Aug 23 04:00:28 PDT 2009 Interesting side note, it installed MySql 5.0, I would have expected MySql 5.1 since that is the current release. Did a full clear and rescan. Same result, some albums are broken, one song stored in duplicate albums. Thirteen "albums" for Raising Sand. Internally, the FLAC/Orbis tags are all identical.
