If you have SC configured to only check mix status, this shouldn't have  
any influence. But it's easy to test: disable MIP, rescan. Disable iTunes,  
rescan. Check numbers in between. Also: once you've found duplicates, look  
at their file names. Are they pointing to the exact same file? Are  
non-latin characters involved?
