Party line from Logitech SMBU is that new consumers expect to play items merely by selecting them. I don't like this decision, either. I see right-arrow, center button, and knob presses as navigation acts. They shouldn't have any effect on the playlist or operation unless the current/selected display line indicates an action (e.g. center button on a track title should not play the track, but center button on "Play all songs" should). But this decision for 7.4 appears to be cast in stone. Logitech apparently spent a lot of money studying user interaction with their products (and not just through focus groups) and seems convinced this change is an improvement. So get used to it, or stick with SqueezeCenter 7.3. Really. In the early testing of Touch and Radio, some of us who like the old behavior filed a bug on this, and the response from Logitech is clear: they understand that some users prefer the old behavior, but they *will not* reconsider this decision. If it makes anybody else feel better to add "me too" posts or put up a forum poll on the topic, go ahead, but don't expect the old behavior to return. Don't even expect an officially supported option to switch to the old behavior. And since the new players depend on software that's licensed under a restrictive proprietary license, don't expect 3rd party offerings to bail you out. The old behavior is dead and buried. In 7.4, the "+" button is now being recast as the "More" button. Hopefully this means that it will always be "safe" to tap "+" to get more options, and we'll all learn when we need to use "+". -Peter -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ free plugins: http://www.tux.org/~peterw/#slim AllQuiet BlankSaver ContextMenu FuzzyTime KidsPlay KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock ------------------------------------------------------------------------ peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67826 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
