Agreed, it would was another button, but it would at least just be a
hold action, I'm guessing that most third party plugins would choose to
integrate their actions with the context menu anyway to avoid
collistions with other plugins.

Do you plan to support Squeezeplay based devices with your ContextMenu
plugin ?

If not, I think it might actually help to have duplicate actions
because the old Classic/Boom/Transporter devices don't support the new
standard context menu through their IR remote interface.

By duplicating the actions, "middle button/knob/right arrow" hold
would:
- On Classic/Boom/Transporter launch the context menu provided by
ContextMenu plugin
- On Squeezeplay devices launch the context menu provided by standard
Squeezebox Server
