I hacked the latest nightly of 7.5 embedded onto a Buffalo LS Pro
(Arm9, 128M RAM) running stock firmware. I did this using the NOCPAN
tarball and lots of iterations of "perl -MCPAN -e shell" until I had
compiled about as many modules as SBS needs to run. The total scan time
for my 7105 flac/mp3 track collection was 44 minutes, with 16 minutes of
that being the pre-cache artwork phase. This is much faster than I
recall having from 7.3.3 on this box (that took about 90 minutes).
It's not perfect: I can't get get Linux::Inotify2 to compile on this
architecture, so I switched off the setting for "Automatically detect
changes."
This was a bit of a silly quest, but I just wanted to get it done. I
think I should order a Shevaplug or Guruplug for production use. Still,
it's nice to know it can be made to work.
