Thought I'd try 7.6 again.

My prefs was set to use my own MySQL instance, but when I kicked off a scan, I
realised that I seemed to have two MySQL instances (so assume it had started to
use it's own instance).

After close to 3 hours, it had scanned half of my library, so I aborted. Using
7.5, it takes less than an hour for a complete scan.

I switched to use SQLite and restarted. At first this looked promising; I had
previously tried a scan with SQLite and already had library content, so tried a
scan for new/changed files. In Settings > Information, I monitored scan
progress. This quickly reported scanning complete, but it was still scanning.
The scanning complete time is continuing to be updated:

Discovering files (31052 of 31052) Complete 00:11:20
Pre-caching Artwork (2832 of 2832) Complete 00:00:02
Remove deleted files (317 of 317) Complete 00:00:38
Scan new files (1801 of 1801) Complete 00:03:18
Scanning changed files (2506 of 25257) Running 00:06:38

The server has finished scanning your music collection.
Total Time: 00:21:56 (Friday 14 May 2010 / 00:04:10)

As you can see, it is reporting "Scanning changed files (2506 of 25257)" but
that it has completed. This performance is also a lot slower than 7.5.

I assume something is very wrong with my setup. Any ideas why it's slow and
not reporting scan progress correctly? I think I'll try blowing away my prefs
folder and copying my 7.5 prefs across again. As this is configured to use my
own MySQL instance, is there anything I should do to the prefs to make the
transition to 7.6 work?

Phil
