I may try to be more rigourous and apply a 7.5.1 install again and measure - but it went from 7.5 with the start-up stutter on 24/96 flacs to 7.5.1 a little better to 7.6 broken. That's when I started looking at the server rather than the Touch.
Any suggestions / hints as to possibly tracing performance (--perfmon is very sparsly described in the usage message and like I said, I don't know the code - yet).
