Andy, why do you need to be aware of specific fringe cases? i guess i'm confused... i don't understand why the rescan doesn't simply check "last modified" date or something like that (if there is a matching filepath/filename). if the file has been changed, scan it en toto as if it is a brand new record. then after scanning everything in, do a second pass just to delete any totally missing files, OR records of files of/with older modified file dates, that obviously will no longer exist with those dates.
why couldn't that work? don't all tag changes, change the files "last modified" file date? (maybe the md5 checksum could be used instead if you and Erland get that figured out?) -- MrSinatra www.lion-radio.org using: sb2 & sbc (my home) / sbrec & ipeng (parent's home) - sbs 7.5.2b - win xp pro sp3 ie8 - p4(ht) 3.2ghz, 2gig ram - 1tb wd usb2 raid1 - d-link dir-655 - 43k+ mp3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82096 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
