Is this a full clear library & rescan? I've posted elsewhere: You can't run a full scan with 7.6 using MySQL - it always hangs up during the precaching of artwork.
You'll have to kill it, which isn't easy. First, abort the scan from the Settings > Information page. Then kill the scanner.exe process from Windows Task Manager. Lastly, you must then empty the 'progress' table in the MySQL database. Afterward, you can run a 'new & changed' scan, which will find and precache the artwork and you'll be good to go.
