On several occasions when I've tried 7.6 branch, I've experienced exactly the same behaviour. - Scan progress in WebUI shows scan complete, but it is still scanning. - Auto scan continues to do something all the time, even though it's disabled.
I've reported it here several times over the last year, and still it doesn't work. Frustrating; I might actually move to 7.6 if it were possible to do a single scan without thrashing the hard disk constantly. I too have shortcuts in my music folder to other folders that I want scanned, so perhaps this is a common denominator. I don't understand how an option to disable auto scan can be so problemmatic. I think it doesn't really disable the mechanism, but each time it is called it then decides not to do any processing. Auto downloads I think is the same - periodically it checks to see if there are any downloads, but if disabled it still periodically checks and then decides to do nothing.
