Andy, please read my and Marco's accounts. There's nothing wrong with the files. The problem is that it happens randomly. And I'm still seeing the problem in 7.6 trunk.
I replaced a faulty disk drive and the problem has largely improved, but I still see it from time to time. In every case running a new & changed scan picks up the files where the 'Unable to read tags from file' errors were logged. I suspect this error message is a little misleading and logged whenever any type of disc access problem occurs. Thing is, I can't understand why it happens on an idle system in the middle of the night. Is there some kind of timeout that the external scanner sets for each file access?
