Search in the web UI needs some work, or maybe some additional opinions on how it should work.
>From the Home menu, 'Search' links to a new search page that's neither Basic nor Advanced Search, but works like SqueezePlay's search where you can search just Artists, Albums, Genres, or Tracks. - There must be a link to Advanced Search on this page. - I'm not sure everyone is going to figure out that mousing over the lines opens a search form that allows you to search only in that category. The page looks a lot like an empty Basic search results page, and that's what I thought it was at first. - Album search results fail to display the artist name. - Song search results also fail to display the artist name if you don't have it in your TITLEFORMAT string. Title formatting behavior merits its own thread in itself, which I'll get to in the near future, but it should at least be obvious that you have to display the artist name in a search result. - IMO, the results pages from this new type of search should themselves have a search box. In the same was that the results page of Basic search does. It should display the search string so - Album and song searches show artwork. Ugh. Search results either need to be all text or else they _must_ have their own cookie to control how they're displayed. I personally don't want to see large artwork when I search - I want as much of the results in front of me as possible, which means text. I'm not sure whether or not I like the way Basic search now works. It's certainly different. The initial page shows just 10 items from each category Artists, Albums, Songs, Playlists, then a 'More...' link leads to the same type of results page as the new search described above. -- JJZolx ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JJZolx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85895 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
