I disagree there.
I had the feeling that scan is slower in LMS than in SBS 7.6
Michael said this may be due to the fact that it scans for videos and
pictures too (I have no clue of videos when I scan with LMS though)
So even if you select carefully your folders, there is a performance
problem if you scan for things you don't care about, even if no file of
this kind is present.
And who knows if some music file will not be considered as a video file
because of some strange bug ?

It seems to me that Logitech team doesn't have resources to achieve
something like "tested it enough"
That's why I would personaly settle a behavior which would allow me to
narrow various types of scan at will, and allow users who do not care
about certain types of files to globally disable them, instead of
having almost every customer angry because of bugs unrelated to their
use.
I wouldn't call 3 flags to enable or disable in scanning prefs
something "complex"
