Could you run the server from the console, something like: /Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/slimserver.pl --d_startup --debug scan,scan.scanner,scan.import We've seen issues with symlinks, where the scanner would crash. Above line might give more information.
