Eliminating the need for a computer to play videos, display pictures and to a lesser degree to play music was one of reasons I bought the Revue. But... I also wanted to take it a step further and make the need for a server component to store the media remotely optional. Why can't the Logitech Media Player be as smart as some of the media players already available for Android in the Market? Just scan the attached local media, support tags and playlists. All my portable MP3 players do this. It's nice to have the ability to tap remote UPnP DLNA sources in the LAN, but make it work with just an attached USB drive first. I was thinking of getting a 2TB drive WD MyBook drive that was on sale for $90 at BestBuy, but after I tested the Revue with attached drive I was disappointed. Hard drives are getting cheaper and cheaper by the day as SSDs are starting to erode that market. If they would just remove all market restrictions and publish some APIs to allow third party developers to modify existing apps that play media in order to support the Revue would be a big step in the right direction. The second step would to allow sharing the USB attached media. In the market there are several Android apps that allow me to share my Smartphone storage. This way I can push media files to the drive remotely without having to pick my big ass up to get the drive to attach it to my laptop to transfer files. -- tamanaco ------------------------------------------------------------------------ tamanaco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4620 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86628 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
