Guys, calm down a bit, Michael just want to ensure he can get everything
to work before he starts breaking existing functionality.
After he have got it to work and published it as a beta, we can ask
everyone to try it out and if everyone agrees that the new behaviour is
better than the old one we can start discussing if we should change the
default behaviour. The advantage of keeping the old behaviour right now
is that you can actually try both in the same environment without being
forced to upgrade/downgrade LMS to verify how the new/old solution
works.
Also with the configurable plugin Michael is creating it's also going to
be easy to test different variants of menus to get a better feeling
which ones that would be suitable to offer as default.
It's important to understand that the behaviour of the current My
Music/Artists menu can vary a lot depending on tagging principles and
settings in LMS, so just hard coding it to a specific behaviour can
break the system seriously for some people.
The big advantage with the way Michael is doing it right now is that it
will be possible to customise the behaviour through third party plugins,
so even if you aren't satisfied with the default behaviour you can use a
plugin to get the behaviour you want.
