You can have 7.9 work exactly like 7.8 and previous versions. The new features have been enabled in 7.9 mostly so that they're more visible and so people will test them. First, go to Settings > My Music and set 'Browse Artists' to 'Use single, configurable list of artists'. Hit the 'Apply' button. Then go back up and make sure you set the options as you like, then 'Apply' again. Then go to Settings > Plugins and disable 'Additional Browse Modes' and restart LMS.
