At the risk of rehashing old territory, I would like to get a few things
down re artists, album artists and compilations. I've a massive music
collection and through careful tagging LMS has largely served my needs
other than where aspects of classical music are concerned.

For all tracks in every album in my collection I have:
- one or more artist entries

For all non-compilation albums I have:
- compilation=0
- an albumartist entry

For compilation albums I have
- compilation=1
- no albumartist entry

For classical albums I have
- a composer entry for all tracks

For non-classical music there may or may not be composer tags for the
tracks. I've never paid much attention to this for non-classical music.

I don't consider artists and composers to be the same thing. Artists and
Bands are for all intents and purposes the same thing.

I like to be able to leverage metadata to explore my library, so often
times will have added artist metadata to albums such as adding in band
member names on particular tracks on a band's albums. This way if I want
to listen to/ explore all tracks with Christine Mcvie on vocals, the
tracks will have an artist entry for Fleetwood Mac and another for
Christine. album artist would be Fleetwood Mac or Chicken Shack or
whatever the band happens to be.

So when browsing ALL artists I would not want to see Composers or
Conductors, only whatever artists appear under the artist (and
presumably band tag - I don't use it)
When browsing albumartist I would not expect to see any compilations
unless I had for some reason explicitly added an album artist entry to
that album
