I guess bug #1 is this old thing: 'Track artist roles become artist roles when COMPILATION=0' (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=5108) :)
And my comments to that bug report echo yours. It should not matter if you add a COMPILATION=0 tag. At worst, it should be redundant. Having it subtly change the way the library is indexed makes no sense.
