I too find it disappointing that only one of Artist is displayed for an album. My music collection is mostly classical and it LMS often seems to deliberately choose the least useful artist, just to spite me (e.g. with "Haitink;LSO" it would choose "LSO"). My own work round has been to incorporate the significant artists in the album name (for ripped CDs my albums are works, not CDs, and tracks are movements, so this is possible for me).
I'll also do some research on where this happens.
