I don't want Band to be treated as Album Artist, that loses a lot of versatility, and would be inconsistent with my FLAC tags. How? I don't think you do. What you are saying is you treat the Band/Orchestra as if it is Album Artist, and this is always used for display. That is different to display Band instead of Artists. Artist and Band should be in the context of a song, and Album Artist only in the context of an album. i.e. Album Artist is not really a property of a song, but a way of passing-through at scan time a property of an album. >Again, with the single artist list you can have Bands >be listed, and Bands be treated like album artists. Well, perhaps kind of similar, as the list by Band option had already been broken ;-) Describing it a slightly different way, the option allowed either (track) artists or (track) band/orchestra to be displayed on the fly by changing the option, but if an album artist is defined, that would always override either choice. Putting Band into Album Artist (or for id3 tags, interpretting Band/Orchestra as Album Artist), means the artist name would never be displayed. Unplugged by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant (list artists) or Page & Plant (list by Band). I can live with it, there's worse things in life, but it's not as good as it used to be, that's all.
