Some people have no local LMS at all and some have music services and use radio apps that needs the mysb.com infrastructure in the background even if you use local LMS . Logitech does not give away this service for free ,its included when you buy a squeezebox . So they need some sort of registration/sanity check so that only proper squeezeboxes connects and uses the services . And some services are personalized to your account and your player .
