Scanning has definitely gotten a lot faster but it's still quite slow compared to simply reading the tags; dumping all tags from my 24k track collection takes less than 5 sec with 'find | xargs ..' unix command line, but scanning is about 8 minutes under 7.7 which is tolerable given how infrequently it is necessary. Yeah upgrading to 7.9 is on the list just haven't gotten to it..
