Guess what? We do a LOT more than simply read the tags :-). I wouldn't say there's a huge difference between 5s and 8mins. But when the disk is busy updating the database, then even reading the tags is slow. A lot of the improvements in 7.9 are thanks to optimizing DB activity, trying to reduce disk IO. And do your 8mins include the artwork pre-caching, too?
