So if it helps I'm another 7.9, running 7.9.0-161, the beta available from Synology. I'm open to a downgrade, manual install, etc., as this is the main thing I'd like to get working, Rhapsody as well as possible.
I think the version shipped by Synology is rather old. Is there anything in the server.log file? If in doubt, try to the Synology re-pack version of LMS (you should find a thread about it in the 3rd party hardware group).
