Yes LMS doe not handle multichannel . And the Touch does not have hdmi , i know that spdiff and toslink only Handles ac3 or dts coded multichannel not discrete multichannel, hdmi does that . Don't know if any multichannel USB soundcard could be used ( in theory ).
Squeezplay ( the native player in Touch ) and Squeezelite is also 2 channel . So LMS is 2 channel probaly not trivial to fix , A new multichannel software player for LMS must be developed that's not trivial either ? Possibly for use on a raspberry pi who has hdmi . Original squeezebox hardware is probably never going to work . If it where easy someone would have done it already.
