Certain packages like glibc are offered in i686 versions as well to take advantage of newer features. Any pentium will run i586 and I think i686 started at the pentium pro. What might cause a problem is 384mb ram with the latest distributions but I know from list messages that people with less ram and 233MHz processors are running opensuse 11.1. I am guessing you have a celeron cpu which should run i686 anyway, maybe you don't have the right kernel installed. Regards Dave P
