But we're not talking about the App Store. There are a few reasons blender would be rejected from the app store (the HIG like you found, and Python), and a few other reasons why the app store is rejected by us (user freedoms, GPL!!!). Apple will not review or accept or reject blender under the GateKeeper program. They want to assure their customers / our users that something called "blender" from the internet actually came from us. > Anyway, as a user, you have to switch permission from "Mac App > Store" to "Mac App Store and identified developers". But then why you can't > just change to "anywhere"? So there is no reason to support jailkeeper. Not quite. The "middle" option is the default, and you can change it to "anywhere". I'm not saying GateKeeper is a good thing, just that it's not *that* bad. Twitter integration in the upcoming OS annoys me more than this stuff. > I thought mac was Unix like and had root permission against viruses. Fluffy Ducks installer requires an admin password [ ] "Hmm, I dunno..." Sad Fluffy Duck face. "Wait, don't cry! Here you go." [ Qu@ck! ] And then they have you. Never underestimate what most people are willing to give up in exchange for a cute fluffy duck. > It is > sad to see that Apple and Microsoft went way mainstream by dumbing down and > lock up their new OSs. Totally agree with you there.
