That article is hilarious. Of the four possible square diagonals it is amazing how often he cherry-picks just one and finds that it is significant that one item of interest is somewhere along that line.
For example with the Mona Lisa he draws just one of those four possible lines and then marvels that it crosses her lips. no mention that the other three lines would have gone through nothing notable. He does this for the entire article, always showing one, two, or three lines but they are always different, selected to suit the areas of interest in the image.
