Hi Jeroen, thumbs up! When you dive into it be sure to check this out: http://www.exocortex.com/alembic That is what lots (most?) of Softimage/Max/Maya is using for Alembic workflow. These are really nice guys, and they probably can provide you some information to get you started (Helge's mail is on that page). I can imagine that they have some interest, that a Blender Alembic is compatible with their suite. Could be a win/win situation.
