Hi, I am very interested in submitting a project proposal to help out with improving and enhancing Blender as part of Google Summer of Code 2013. I found out about GSoC last year but had unfortunately missed the application deadline, so I'm happy to have another chance.
I am currently studying for a Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence masters degree at the University of York in the UK. I am pretty knowledgeable about C++, and I am pleased to be among the top users who frequent under the C++ tag at Stack Overflow ( http://stackoverflow.com/users/150634/sftrabbit). I also have a fair bit of experience with Python and Blender itself and an interest in areas such as graphics, computer vision, and game development, so I feel that I'm well suited to working on Blender. I have been looking for an opportunity to contribute to open source software and this seems to be a great way to do so. I have previous working experience from a yearlong industrial placement at Philips Research Cambridge, where I worked on projects involving Android development, GPS tracking, and web development. Next year is the final year of my degree, and my dissertation will involve computer vision and machine learning. The essence of it is that I will be extracting depth information from 360 degree video to display on a virtual reality headset. Because of this, I feel like the motion tracking functionality of Blender would be a great area for me to work on to gain more insight into computer vision. I would be grateful for any advice anybody might have on choosing a specific motion tracking project and submitting a proposal. I will be familiarising myself with the existing functionality over the next few days. Thanks for the opportunity, Joseph Mansfield _______________________________________________ Bf-committers mailing list [email protected] http://lists.blender.org/mailman/listinfo/bf-committers
