1.  If playing with 2 players you should have at least one of the
players control 2 characters -- you need at least 3 characters for the
game to be balanced.  I generally play with 2 by having each player
control 2 characters and that works fine.

2.  My understanding is that if you end your turn in a room that's on
fire, you die (unless the fire started during your event drawing
phase).  If another player sets the room on fire, nothing will happen
to you until it comes back around to your turn again (which, if you're
on the Rescued spot, never happens).
