Yes, you can make your own.  As to what, that's up to you.  I found my
more successful ones had to do with common themes or polls.  GeekLists
do a good job of grouping titles/polls so you can comment directly on
each entry.  So in that respect, they work better than a single
thread.

They are also a little more interactive as they allow others to
contribute entries as well as comments.  More importantly, they can be
thumb magnets so everyone wnats to be a part of one that starts to get
hot.

If I were you, I would just try creating a few to get a feel for
them.  Maybe games you tried in 2008 or games you got for Christmas.
Then check out the hotter ones and see what makes them good.
