"Another gripe I have with Life is the chair. As soon as it appeared
on screen my wife said, "Oh, it's the Dollhouse chair." I doubted
that they would blatantly rip off another currently airing show. 30
seconds later Dr. Rush is explaining how whoever sits in the chair
will have the knowledge of the ancients implanted directly into their
brain. Dollhouse certainly did not invent this idea, but come on. "

Considering that SG-1 established teh Ancient technology to download
data into a human brain back in Season Two in 'The Fifth Race' (one of
the best episodes of SG-1 IMO) and they established the Ancient chair
in SG-1 as well, I didn't have a problem with this.

I thik SGU has possibilities, but every character outside of the main
3 need work, and that includes O'Neill who rolled over for Lou Diamond
Phillips' character a couple of episodes ago. The SG-1 Jack wouldn't
have done that. (Not to mention allowing the soap opera of jumping
bodies in the last episode. You think that would happen under his
command?)

The huge problem with this show is the stones. Why isn't Carter and/
or McKay permanently inhabiting somebody's body on the ship so they
can help Rush get stuff working? They are the two foremost experts on
Ancient technology in the world. I realize its because the actors
aren't available and they want to tell new stories without using the
old cast, but its a huge plot hole. Not to mention the whole "Let me
borrow your body so I can go sleep with my girlfriend/wife/husband/
whatever I left on Earth, you apparently don't mind". There's 3-4
good epsiodes ont he ramifications of the body switching alone and
they've just glossed over it like its no big deal (Allergies? The
body your using belongs to an alcoholic? etc.) I know that they have
an epsiode planned about this topic near the end of the season, but
they needed to deal with it earlier rather than later.

SGU seems like a great idea that can't figure out how to fit into the
already constructed SG universe. We know the characters in command
back on Earth so we know that things should be running differently.
Until they can figure out how to fit into the sG universe I think its
going to struggle. But go watch the first seasons of SG-1 or SG:A.
There are some pretty woeful episodes in those groups and the series
figured it out, so I still have faith.
