The "read a book" defense got tired years ago when I first started complaining about BGG going down.
Imagine that you wanted to go for a walk, but for 12 hours, your legs didn't work due to someone else's negligence. Imagine that you really wanted to read a book, but you went blind for a day because of tainted food (or whatever). You sure as hell would complain to the people responsible for such things, wouldn't you? BGG is second only to Google search as my most visited site. Actually, now that I think about it, I probably use it more than Google on many days.
