My girlfriend and I also primarily play these types of game. Not sure if this is the type of games you are looking for, but here are some that we enjoy:
Carcassonne: classic tile-laying; probably the best choice for you San Juan: similar to Puerto Rico in theme but a card same; an easy version of Race for the Galaxy; players very well with 2 Lost Cities: a very easy 2-player card game Agricola: a little more complex but the gf loves it 10 Days in...: all of the "10 Days" games are excellent for 2 but they do feel a little different than the above games You should probably also look into Alhambra. I have not played it but it does look similar to Glen More.
