(first g-group reply, so sorry if not exactly posted in right spot) since the figs, and game can add up to $$$...i'd recommend looking at blood bowl team manager card game (for 2-4 players)...from...fantasy flight? it doesn't really feel very much like the board game, but playing up to 4 people, you could sorta gauge whether your friends would be interested in the 'real' version before committing all that money.
