I faced the same problem and solved it simply by dividing out a bit of sticky tack to each player for picking up the tiles. It's just enough tack to lift it up without worrying about damaging the tile. I keep the tack in a little baggie inside the game box. It works like a charm and takes up hardly any space. Since utilizing it for Hey! That's my fish! I've added a bit of sticky tack to any game box that has difficult to pick up components. My Robinson Crusoe pieces are all in a little Plano container, but can be a challenge to pick out of the little compartments with my chubby digits. Problem solved with a little piece of sticky tack.
