Dear Colleagues IFLA, along with Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL) and UNESCO, will be holding an Interactive Facilitation Meeting on Open Access<http://groups.itu.int/wsis-forum2011/Agenda.aspx?event=event_104>as part of next week’s World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2011<http://groups.itu.int/wsis-forum2011/Home.aspx>in Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting takes place on *Thursday **May 19th, 14:45- 16:15pm.***
The meeting will look at the current achievements of the key players in the field of open access and facilitate a discussion about whether they are replicable across countries. Participants will address how open access could be included in national and regional research and educational policies, in order to formally embed it into education and research institutions. The new IFLA Statement on Open Access<http://www.ifla.org/en/news/just-released-ifla-statement-on-open-access>will also be introduced and discussed, and co-operative activities between libraries highlighted.
