I am also using VPN (Cisco VPN using the built-in OS X VPN connector, to be precise). For me it’s not just on the first access. I tried multiple searches and each time the spinner icon next to “Web” in the sidebar keeps on spinning if I click on the AbstractPlus link. I’ll try the next nightly and let you know if it works.
