We could read XMP using Adobe's libraries, but writing it is not technically 
feasible, as Christiaan says.

See <http://support.adobe.com/devsup/devsup.nsf/docs/52082.htm> for Adobe's 
commentary on this.  Basically they say you should buy Acrobat to add XMP to 
PDF files.  Ideally Apple would provide a PDFKit hook to add XMP metadata, so 
we should all file bug reports suggesting that.
