I guess sorting will become a bummer because at least me removed the
title- and authors-column and I've never gotten adjusted to iTunes
"new" "click-several-times-on-one-column-to-get-another-sorting"-way
(click on album and there is "album by year", "album by artist" and so
on).

I compared your posted screenshot and my view and it looks similar. I
have mainly articles and incollection-items. Maybe my eyes just need
to get adjusted to the new column or I need to change the template
because now it's "Author (Year). Title…" which is great in a
bibliography but in Bibdesk I have the colums the following way:
Title, 1st Author, 2nd Author, 3rd Author usually looking for the
title while browsing which is often quite conclusive or remembers me
on the content.
Maybe it's just that - that in citation-column the author comes first
and then the title and that makes it harder for me to browse. But
reformatting the template (never did it before) seems for me at least
on first sight harder than rearranging a few columns via drag'n'drop.
Where do I actually change the template? I had a look around (in the
manual as well) and can only find something for export-templates. And
at least that looks a little bit intimidating (it's quite easy though)
and like a lot of work if I have to reformat every type by hand from
author, title to title, author (and for sorting-purposes I would like
to be able to sort by 1st, 2nd and 3rd author not just by author)
