Caching was added in 1.3.13, IIRC.  File content search has been  
around for a long time (well before Papers came on the scene):

Add content searching of all Local-Url files in the frontmost  
document.  Currently Tiger-only; uses NSLevelIndicator and Cocoa  
bindings, plus the new asynchronous SearchKit functions from Tiger.
