Thank you, Christiaan!
Sorry if the question was too trivial, I'm jus starting with Applescript.

The make command worked.

Now, I would appreciate if you could tell me how to "auto file" these linked files... I have general rule in the Preferences such that the linked files are moved to:

PDF/%Y/%A1%u0%e

I thought the so-added linked files would be "auto filed" when saving the library, but it doesn't happen.

Many thanks again!

Miguel

No, files added through AppleScript are not auto-filed, only files added through direct user interaction. Triggering automatic actions from AppleScript is dangerous, because it could lead to infinite loops. You can auto-file using the "auto file" command.

linked files are a to-many property, not a to-one-property. You cannot simply use "set" to add an item to a to-many property. You need to use the "add" command. If the "add" command is not available (I'm not sure if it is supported in the last release) you should use the "make" command with a "with data" argument. Have a look at the sample script to see how to do it.

Hi,

I'm writing an applescript that will look for pdf files in my quite disordered collection that may correspond to a particular publication in a library.
My question is:
Provided I find an appropriated pdf, can I have it linked to the selected publication from within the applescript?

I'm trying something like:

set the linked file 1 of thePub to this_file

but it fails with:

Bibdesk has detected an error: NSInternalScriptError

Thank you in advance!
