If you're on the same physical system, it will just work; I've done  
dozens of Leopard installations with no problems (erase install on a  
boot volume, with users on a separate volume).  Archive/install or  
upgrade should be just as seamless.

If you're moving to a new physical system or reformatting the volume  
on which your linked files are stored, you'll need to preserve the  
relative location of the .bib file and all the linked files.
