#  Many papers described the usefulness of echocardiography in heart  
failure (1-4)

This means that ref # 1 may be Pontillo et al, ref # 2 Doe et al, ref  
# 3 Bax et al and so on
But this order in my paper may not be the same in bibdesk's list
