I don't think people are likely to switch away from the browser, but  
that's just me.  My point is that if it's not hard to make it  
accessible from the browser, why not give that people the choice?  If  
BibDesk can expose an AppleScript command for something like "import  
from URL" or "load URL in web group" that launches the same importers  
that the web group would launch, then we need not ask people to make  
BibDesk their default research browser.
