Thank you very much for your help. By "large field" do you mean "long title" or
"many key words" for example? If so, no, they were the usual size. But there
was one entry that had over 80 chapters, and when I added them, that is when
the problem happened. Now I cannot open BibDesk. Sorry, do you know how I could
fix this problem? There are over 2000 titles, I cannot imagine starting all
over again. Thank you very much for your help.

The number of items shiuld not really be a problem. But are there very large
fields in some items? The bibtex library can choke on those.
