After several rewarding years of using Bibdesk, I'm leaving it behind for Jabref. I'll leave the Applescripts I've contributed up at the link from the Wiki, but don't anticipate updating them.
My change to Jabref is based entirely on Bibdesk's usage of aliases instead of simple file links for attached documents. I have to admit that I'm baffled by the logic behind this, as it flies in the face of bibtex as a plaintext format that is easy to manipulate with a variety of tools and easily shared across operating systems. I suspect the need to resolve aliases also contributes to the glacial start/saving and bloated bib-file (15 MB!!) I've encountered as my number of attachments has grown (over 6000 right now). I have a stable filing system in place for my PDFs, so the purported advantage of having the operating system track files as a move them is of no benefit. However, the developers of Bibdesk are clearly very smart and thoughtful, so I assume I'm an outlier here. Thank you very much to the developers for their fantastic work over many, many years! Without Bibdesk, I never would have escaped the clutches of EndNote. Thank you also to the other users who have offered their advice and contributed to the Wiki. I look forward to seeing Bibdesk continue to thrive i the future.
